The tiny house movement is a social movement in which people are choosing to, sometimes drastically, downsize. Compared with 2,600 square feet for the average size of an American house hold, tiny homes are significant departure considering that they come in around 100 to 400 square feet. “Tiny living,” as it is called, can enable a simpler way of living, due to the fact that one is living a compact efficient space, making little use for clutter and non-essentials. Those joining this craze do it for a wide variety of reasons, the most common being, financial concerns, freedom, and environmental concerns. Because of the low costs of tiny homes, many of the people that live in them spend well below the national average of 1/3 to 1/2 of their income on housing. Also many tiny livers own their homes outright, giving them the freedom of use their income elsewhere. Tiny homes are definitely not for everyone but they do offer an alternative to traditional housing.
