Mr. Godden's thirty-five years of professional experience covers many different areas in the field of architecture, including residential, commercial, and industrial design. Although he has experience with a wide range of building types, Mr. Godden specializes in the areas of single-family and multi-family housing design, affordable housing projects, land planning, resort development, hotel planning & design and living facilities for the elderly and physically impaired. Prior to establishing Godden|Sudik Architects, Inc., Mr. Godden served as senior architect, designer and business manager for several prestigious Denver area architectural firms including Knudson-Gloss Architects, Urban Design Group, The Martin Organization and Habitat Design Group. Mr. Godden was recently appointed as Chairman of the City of Lone Tree Planning Commission. Mr. Godden's design and technical expertise as an architect, as well as his training and experience as a business manager are a unique combination in the industry and essential factors in the success of GSA.

Mr. Sudik’s fourteen years of professional experience covers many different areas of residential design

including affordable, luxury and multi-family housing. Since joining the firm in 1997, Mr. Sudik has demonstrated his design and technical abilities in many of GSA’s award winning projects. He is

responsible for managing GSA’s architectural staff, maintaining design quality and furthering GSA’s reputation for livable, buildable and compelling home designs. In addition to his work with the firm, Mr. Sudik has served on Architectural Review Committees for Mariana Butte, Whispering Creek and the Orr Estates Subdivisions. Before establishing GSA, Scott served as CAD manager, production manager, and construction superintendent for several prestigious Denver area builders including US Homes and Pride Mark Homes. Mr. Sudik’s passion for residential architecture and his expertise in both design and technical knowledge are all factors in the success of GSA.

Mr. Brady has a decade of residential architectural and planning experience covering a wide range of project types and sizes including single-family, multi-family and resorts. Since joining Godden|Sudik Architects in 2004, Mr. Brady’s design talents and technical knowledge have become integral to the continuing success of GSA. In 2007, Mr. Brady became an owner and Principal of GSA. Mr. Brady has chosen to specialize in residential architecture with a focus on multi-family housing. Some of the many multi-family projects Mr. Brady has been involved in include townhomes, small condos, 3-story walk-up condos, apartments, low income housing, senior housing, mountain time-share resorts, 4-story podium condominiums and mixed-use high density projects. Before joining GSA, Mr. Brady was employed by firms in Nevada and California as a project manager on a historical restoration project and as an intern working on many housing and institutional projects. Mr. Brady is a LEED Accredited Professional, is a member of the American Institute of Architects and is active with the Denver AIA Housing Committee. In 2009, Mr. Brady was awarded with the prestigious President’s Award from AIA Colorado for extensive involvement with the new Denver Zoning Code.

At Godden Sudik Architects we appreciate the fact that every homeowner is unique and understand that their home and the design process must be tailor made to represent who they are. Trying to delineate how the design process will progress with concrete times and dates would be disadvantageous to many of our clients, some need the process to progress rather quickly, while others have the luxury of a longer segment of time to work within. Whichever your situation, Godden Sudik is confident we can accommodate the schedule of your project.

To the left you will find links to a general overview of each phase and what you can expect from your experience with Godden Sudik Architects.

Phase I

Phase I

We understand that hiring an architect is a very personal decision, one that will determine how you move and live out your daily life for years to come. It is important that you feel the firm you choose is correct for the job and that you are able to trust that they understand your wants and needs as a homeowner. We will work side by side with you for as long as necessary to ensure you are satisfied with the final design of your home.

The foundation of this relationship typically starts with one or more pre-design interviews. This process is flexible yet the first step is usually a meeting at our office where we sit down and go over your ideas for your home as well as through books and previous projects we have completed to help facilitate the design process. We can also come out to your home, see where and how you live and discuss what works and does not work in your current space. It is beneficial for some clients to have us involved in site selection; we can visit different sites with you and help you decide which site would coincide best with your lifestyle and desired layout. If you have already purchased a lot for your home, we still would like to tour the site in order to determine slope, orientation and views to help enhance your living space. After the pre-design meetings take place we will work up an agreement and begin the design phase.

Phase II

Phase II

The design phase is all about working together in a collaborative manner to ensure every detail within the house is well thought out and fulfills your needs and desires. It is during this time that we determine the general layout and overall appearance of both the house and the site. Schematic site plans, floor plans and elevations are developed, refined and meticulously analyzed to work out any potential problems. Visual tools such as sketches, renderings and models are used to assist the client in visualizing a comprehensive image of the multiple design concepts presented to them throughout the design phase. Once a clear floor plan has been established, and exterior elevations are developed, Godden Sudik coordinates the presentation to the Design Review Committee (DRC) if necessary for the development in which you are building or remodeling your home. Godden Sudik's years of experience makes the design phase an easier, integrated process for all parties involved which helps the progression of the project proceed in a timely manner. At the completion of the design phase it will be the first time that a complete enough set of plans exists for a valuable cost estimate to be preformed.

Phase III

Phase III

Construction Documents are the drawings that communicate the sizes, locations and details of the project to the builders. This is the phase when details, dimensions and other "behind the scenes" aspects of the home are laid out to produce the information needed by the builder to construct the home. During this phase, we lead the coordination process amongst the builder, structural engineer and often professionals like interior designers or landscape architects to ensure all the pieces fit together. We also will continue to collaboratively add detail to the project until you are satisfied with the final set of plans and when this is accomplished we will head into the permitting and construction phase.

Phase IV

Phase IV

Included in our basic services is ongoing support throughout the construction phase. We will continue to assist you and your builder to ensure that your plans are approved by the city and receive permits. We will also come out and walk through the home as it is being built to ensure that your home is evolving as we all envisioned and help make adjustments as needed.
